Summary:

Named as basal member of Popo Agie Formation (rank raised) of Chugwater Group. Type section is in SE1/4 sec 13, SW1/4 sec 12, T32N, R99W, Fremont Co, WY in Wind River basin. Recognized from Lander, Fremont Co to Beaver Creek, Fremont Co. Is about 20 ft thick at type. Consists of pale-red to purplish-red silty claystone locally mottled gray, and grayish-yellow silty sandstone. Some lime-cemented siltstone pebbles in upper part. Some shaly grayish-purple siltstone mottled red and ocher, purplish-black iron oxide nodules, and aphanitic pinkish-gray limestone pebbles common. Forms badlands topography locally. Overlies Crow Mountain Sandstone (rank raised) of Chugwater Group. Underlies Lyons Valley Member (new) of Popo Agie. Of Triassic age. Cross sections.
