Named listed in correlation chart. Referred to as Boxer petrofacies which is described as mainly mudstone and siltstone with prominent packets of conglomerate and sandstone in the lower part. Overlies Lodoga Formation; underlies Cortina Formation. All are part of Great Valley sequence. Age of Boxer is given as Cenomanian (Late Cretaceous).

Summary:

[Type section] in low hills adjacent to Boxer Valley and west-facing slope of Cortina Ridge, Wilbur Springs 7.5' quad, Colusa Co, CA. Composed of dark-gray thin-bedded to laminated siltstone, fine-grained sandstone, and basal olive-green, thinly bedded to massive conglomerate, Salt Creek Conglomerate Member [formerly Salt Creek Conglomerate of Taliaferro (1954)]. Is from 1,600 to 2,900 m thick. Contains fossils of Cenomanian age in lowermost and uppermost part. Conformably overlies Lodoga Formation; conformably underlies or intertongues with Cortina Formation. Is Late Cretaceous age.
