Summary:

Pg. 40, 41, 51 (table 1). Bogota limestone member of Mattoon formation (new) of McLeansboro group. Recognized in southeastern Illinois. Thickness at type locality about 3.5 feet. Occurs above Effingham limestone member and below Greenup limestone member. Age is Late Pennsylvanian (Virgilian). Report presents new rock-stratigraphic classification of Pennsylvanian of Illinois. Cyclical classification is retained but is independent of rock-stratigraphic classification.
Type locality: a few mi southwest of Bogota, in NE/4 NE/4 sec. 17, T. 5 N., R. 8 E., Sailor Springs 15-min quadrangle, Jasper Co., southeastern IL (citing Newton and Weller, 1937, p. 9).
