Summary:

Named as member (one of two) of Doyle Creek Formation. [Type section is on ridge north of Ashby Creek, 45 deg 03'57"N, 116 deg 47'35"W, at elevations between 3,100 and 3.800 ft. where about 600 ft is exposed, Homestead 15' quad Baker Co, OR.] Mapped in area between Wallowa Mountain in northeast OR and Seven Devils Mountains of western Idaho (part of Snake River Canyon included). [Reference section is at Kirby Creek. Consists of volcanic conglomerate, volcanic breccia, fine-grained volcaniclastic rocks and intercalated flow rocks. Is interlayered between greenish-black and red flow rocks and volcaniclastic rocks of Doyle Creek Formation.] Is Late Triassic age.
