Pg. 596 (fig. 4), 601. Arrow Canyon Formation. Formation [1,070] feet thick at type locality, consists mostly of medium- to dark-gray limestone in thin to medium beds. Crops out in series of precipitous black cliffs which are banded by stripes of rusty brown and gray, marking the outcrops of minor interbeds of quartzite and dolomite respectively. Quartzite more prominent in upper half of formation and at least five beds appear to extend through most of quadrangle. Thin stromatoporoid-bearing beds, abundant in lower half of formation, but less numerous in upper half. Overlies Moapa Formation (new); underlies Crystal Pass Limestone; both contacts gradational. [Age is Devonian.]
Type locality: exposures north of Toronto Gulch, Arrow Canyon quadrangle, Arrow Canyon Range, Clark Co., east-central NV.

Arrow Canyon Formation (Langenheim and others, 1962) redescribed as Arrow Canyon Limestone in correlation chart. Age is shown as Late Devonian (Frasnian).

Conodonts were collected from South Florida Canyon section (Ryan and Langenheim, 1973) of the upper member of Arrow Canyon Formation. Unit is approximately 810 ft thick; upper member [informal] is 760 ft and lower member [informal] is 50 ft at section. Nine quartzose sandstone beds or lenses are present in upper member. On basis of conodont collection, upper member of Arrow Canyon Formation appears to range from lower or middle Frasnian into lower Fammenian.
