Allison barren member of Mesaverde formation. Light-gray to white lenticular sandstone, light-gray clay shale, and thin irregular coal beds, but none of commercial importance. Thickness 800+ feet. Top member of Mesaverde formation in Gullup-Zuni basin. Overlies Gibson coal member of Mesaverde and unconformably underlies Tertiary deposits. Age is Late Cretaceous.
Well exposed near village of Allison, [in sec. 18, T. 15 N., R. 18 W.], Gallup-Zuni basin, McKinley Co., northwestern NM.

In southern part of San Juan basin, Upper Cretaceous Allison member of Mesaverde formation reassigned to Menefee formation of Mesaverde group (raised in stratigraphic rank throughout San Juan basin). Overlies Cleary coal member (named in this report) of Menefee and underlies La Ventana tongue (revised) of Cliff House sandstone in the east and Cliff House sandstone in the west part of southern San Juan basin.
