Type section, locality, area and/or origin of name:

Type locality: Barton Creek, near Austin, [Travis Co.], central eastern TX (Adkins, 1933).
Named from Edwards Plateau, Nueces and Uvalde quadrangles, southwestern TX, of which it is chief component of scarps and mesas (US geologic names lexicons, USGS Bull. 896, 1200).
