Type section, locality, area and/or origin of name:

Type section not designated, but exposures in old and open underground quarry at Glen Park, approx. 3 mi south of town of Kimmswick, in SE/4 NW/4 sec. 5, T. 41 N., R. 6 E., Jefferson Co., eastern MO, have long served collectively as a type (Thompson, 1991).
Named from exposures in vicinity of Kimmswick, [along Mississippi River, Kimmswick 15-min quadrangle], Jefferson Co., eastern MO (Ulrich, 1904).
