Type section, locality, area and/or origin of name:

Type section: Peters Mountain section in southeast corner of Duncannon 15-min quadrangle in Middle Paxton Twp., Dauphin Co., southeastern PA, on east side of Susquehanna River where it cuts through Peters Mountain. Measurement made along base of cliff on east side of Pennsylvania Railroad tracks (Dyson, 1967).
