Type Locality:
Putnam, Windham Co., northeastern CT (Gregory, 1906).

Subunits:
(Group) Eastern part of eastern highlands: Quinebaug Formation and its lower, Black Hill, and upper members; Tatnic Hill Formation and its Bates Pond Lentil, Fly Pond and Yantic Members (CT*,MA*). Western part of eastern highlands: Monson Gneiss (CT*), Middletown Gneiss (CT*), Brimfield Schist and its lower, Daly Swamp, and upper members (CT*,MA*).

Unit Name History:
Named (Gregory, 1906). Not used (Zen and others, 1983). Age modified (Pease, 1989).
