Along NC Highway 8 west of Flat Swamp Mountain and northeast of High Rock Lake, Davidson Co., central NC. Named from town of Floyd Church (Stromquist and Sundelius, 1969).

Name proposed for member of Millingport Formation (Stromquist and Sundelius, 1969).
