Notes on NCGMP09 example database Camas.gdb
===========================================

* Values of LocationConfidenceMeters for inferred and approximately located features (ContactsAndFaults) and concealed features (ConcealedContactsAndFaults) were chosen arbitrarily and may be too small

* Symbolization is inadequate. Symbol names are the appropriate values from FGDC Document Number FGDC-STD-013-2006, but actual symbols are, in several cases, wrong.

* Some lines may be multi-part and should not be. Some polygons are divided at concealed contacts and(or) faults and should not be.

* There are no cross sections in this database, though they are present in map. The cross sections were done in Adobe Illustrator and have not been translated.

* There are data in the map text (one bad conventional K-Ar age) that are not listed in any database table of the original publication, and thus are not given in tabular form in this version.

* Editable forms of pamphlet and map text were not available, and thus are not provided here.

* A vector version of the CMU and DMU diagrams, separate from the PDF of the map sheet, were not available and thus are not provided here.

* Vector versions of the figures in the pamphlet were not available separately and thus are not provided here.

* There was no documentation in the map text of the source of modal analyses for geochem samples

* Some Glossary definitions are not well particularly written

* Metadata was written quickly

* Within Camas.mxd the layer named 'MapUnitPolys - DMU join' has been joined with the DescriptionOfMapUnits table and some fields have been hidden for clarity. View the results of the join through either the Identify tool or using the HTML popup tool which will display the long map unit description in a wrapped frame.

* In order to display StandardLithology records related to a DMU record which is associated with a map unit polygon, the layer named 'MapUnitPoly - DMU relate' has been related to the DMU table (as opposed to the join described above). When you use the Identify tool on features in this layer, you can view the related records of the DMU and the StandardLithology.

* Various other joins and relates have been built between the layers in the mxd and non-spatial attribute tables. Note that the Identify tool may not display the results you are expecting. Another way to browse the relationships is to select the feature you are interested in, open the associated layer attribute table, and from the Options menu, located on the bottom frame, choose 'Related tables' and the relate you want to browse. You may need to filter the table to just the selected records ('Show' control on the bottom frame). For instance, view the related StandardLithology records of the Qa map unit from the DescriptionOfMapUnits.

* Some field other than the default has been set to be the display field for all layers. This makes browsing the Identify results more readable. You can reset this field for any layer on the Fields tab of the layer properties.
