In gulch draining south slope of Woodpeckers Peak, which is situated on north boundary of Oxyoke Canyon, in vicinity of Eureka, NV. Origin of name not stated, but probably named from Woodpeckers Peak [Lat. 39 deg. 27 min. 00 sec. N., Long. 115 deg. 53 min. 44 sec. W., Pinto Summit 15-min quadrangle, White Pine Co., NV] (Nolan and others, 1956).
