Type section, locality, area and/or origin of name:

Outcrops in ridge just north of Waynesboro, Franklin Co., PA (Stose, 1906).
Reference sections: (1) (Buchanan section) along northeast side of CSX right-of-way, southeast of site of old depot, located beneath U.S. Highway 11 overpass into town of Buchanan; (2) (Arcadia Bridge section) along southwest side of CSX right-of-way near County Road 614 bridge across James River; (3) (Indian Rock section) along both sides of the CSX right-of-way, southeast of site of Indian Rock (Hayes, 1991).
