Named from conspicuous exposures at Supai village, on Cataract Creek, Coconino Co., northern AZ (Darton, 1910).
Type section (Supai Group): in Havasu Canyon, near village of Supai, on Cataract Creek, Coconino Co., northern AZ (McKee, 1975).
