Type section, locality, area and/or origin of name:

Present in Sandia, Manzano, and San Andreas Mountains, central northern NM (Herrick, 1900).
Principal reference section (composite, sections J1-J7): across hogback ridges; base of composite section (J1) beginning about 0.95 mi north of Mora River and 2.7 mi east of center of town of Mora [approx. Lat. 35 deg. 58 min. 35 sec. N., Long. 105 deg. 17 min. 00 sec. W., Mora Co., central northern NM] (Baltz and Myers, 1999).
