Type locality: exposures in hilly ground west of Tertiary volcanic rocks between Mullinix and Solid Silver Canyons, in secs. 17 and 20, T. 43 N., R. 39 E., Hinkey Summit 15-min quadrangle, Santa Rosa Range, Humboldt Co., Winnemucca area, NV (Compton, 1960; Burke and Silberling, 1973).
