Type section: directly south of Wellton-Mohawk Canal, 1.7 km east to 1.3 km south of McPhaul Bridge, and about 11.2 km southeast of Laguna Dam, in secs. 3, 9, 10, and 11, T. 8 S., R. 21 W., Gila and Salt River Meridian, Yuma Co., AZ (Olmsted and others, 1973).
