Type locality: west rim of valley of Falls River, just below Cave Falls, in southwest corner of Yellowstone National Park, [approx. Lat. 44 deg. 08 min. 36 sec. N., Long. 110 deg. 59 min. 59 sec. W., Grassy Lake Reservoir 15-min quadrangle], Teton Co., northwestern WY. Named from Falls River (Christiansen and Blank, 1972).
