Type section, locality, area and/or origin of name:

Named from Dox Castle, north side of Colorado River, in Shinumo quadrangle, underneath which a typical section is found beneath Tonto group, which makes the castle, Grand Canyon, Coconino Co., northern AZ (Noble, 1914).
