Summary:

Named lower member of two of Drakes Formation, overlain by Preachersville Member; underlain by Reba Member of Ashlock Formation. Chiefly composed of greenish-gray dolomitic or limy, sparsely glauconitic, silty mudstone. Megafossils absent or very sparse. Ripple marks and mudcracks common. Approximately replaces the Waynesville Formation as used on southeast, south, and west sides of Jessamine dome.

O1-O203.

Summary:

The Rowland Member of the Drakes Formation in south-central KY consists of grayish-green, sparsely glauconitic, dolomitic or calcareous, silty mudstone with ripple marks and mud cracks. Fossils are very rare to absent. Thickness is 40 to 60 feet. Overlies the Ashlock Formation and underlies the Preachersville Member of the Drakes Formation in the southern and eastern sides of the Lexington dome, and underlies the Bardstown Member of the Drakes on the western side. The environment of deposition is interpreted to be tidal flat. The Rowland is of Late Ordovician (Richmondian) age.
