Summary:
Named for exposures near Mexican Springs Wash (the Indian name for the locality is Nakaibito) about a quarter of a mile above mouth of Chuska Wash, McKinley Co, NM in the San Juan basin. These exposures are the type locality. Is 16 ft thick at type where following units measured and described (ascending): tan to brown sand 6 ft thick; brown to pinkish sandy silt with caliche mottling 2 ft thick overlain disconformably by 6 ft of tan-brown to buff sand that is succeeded by 2 ft of dark-brown sandy loam. May be 20 ft thick. Overlies Gamerco formation (new). Sherds of Pueblo II time or A.D. 900-1000 in formation. Of Recent age.
