Type section, locality, area and/or origin of name:

Type section: in secs. 22 and 27, T. 4 S., R. 3 W., Utah and Salt Lake Cos., UT. Section begins in Maple Flat and traverses north-northeast up spur opposite Maple Canyon, Bingham mining district. Origin of name not stated by authors, but probably named from Maple Flat (Welsh and James, 1961).
