Type section, locality, area and/or origin of name:

Type locality: on south side of southwestern peak of White Ridge, [Slategoat Mountain 7.5-min quadrangle, Lewis and Clark Co., northwestern MT] (Deiss, 1933).
Named from Glenn Creek, [Saypo quadrangle, Lewis and Clark Co., northwestern MT], whose middle branch heads at eastern base of White Ridge. On Saypo topographic sheet [1903 ed.] the names Glenn Creek and Moose Creek have been interchanged (Deiss, 1933).
