Type locality stated to be in Whitewood Canyon, just outside of town of Deadwood, in secs. 13 and 14, T. 5 N., R. 3 E., [Deadwood North 7.5-min quadrangle], Lawrence Co., western SD (Butler and others, 1955).
Type locality: on west side of Whitewood Creek just below Deadwood, Lawrence Co., western SD.
