Type section: on east end of Concha Ridge, a conspicuous transverse spur of Scherrer Ridge in Gunnison Hills, in NW/4 sec. 28, T. 15 S., R. 23 E., central Cochise Co., southeastern AZ (Gilluly and others, 1954).
Reference section (composite): in Mustang Mountains, in SW/4 sec. 14, and NE/4 sec. 15, T. 20 S., R. 18 E., Santa Cruz Co., AZ (Bryant and McClymonds, 1961).
