Type area: along crest of Portneuf Range from Sedgwick Peak north-northwest for about 5 mi, Bannock Co., ID.
Type section: exposures on southwest side of Twin Knobs, in SW/4 NE/4 sec. 12, T. 10 S., R. 38 E., Bannock and Caribou Cos., ID. Named from Sedgwick Peak, Portneuf Range (Oriel and others, 1971).
