Notable exposures on west side of [McCloud River] just above Baird Post Office, [Shasta Co., CA] (Fairbanks, 1894).
Named from exposures near now submerged Baird fish hatchery on McCloud River near confluence with Pit River [Lat. 40 deg. 47 min. N., Long. 122 deg. 19 min. W., Lamoine 15-min quadrangle], Shasta Co., CA (Albers and Robertson, 1961).
