Type section, locality, area and/or origin of name:

Type section: roadcut on southeast side of northbound lane of U.S. Highway 11, immediately east of Cedar Creek, about 2.5 miles southwest of Middletown, Frederick Co., and 3 miles northeast of Strasburg, Shenandoah Co., VA. Named from Stickley Run, a tributary of Cedar Creek near type section (Epstein and others, 1995).
