Named from exposures at Powell Station [now relocated] on White River branch of St. Louis Iron Mtn. and Southern RR [now Missouri-Pacific RR], Marion Co., northern AR (Purdue and Miser, 1916; name credited to E.O. Ulrich, unpub. data). [Exposures 1+ mi southeast of present village of Pyatt, in secs. 4 through 6, T. 18 N., R. 17 W., Bruno 7.5-min quadrangle.]
Reference section: roadcuts on U.S. Interstate Highway I-55, in SW/4 SW/4 sec. 13 (projected), T. 38 N., R. 7 E., Weingarten 7.5-min quadrangle, Ste. Genevieve Co., southeastern MO (Thompson, 1991).
