Type Locality: Exposed in lower slopes of Ottauquechee and Black River valleys south of West Bridgewater in Rutland area. Unit named from Plymouth Twp., Windsor Co., VT. Unit Name History: First used (Foyles and Richardson, 1929) [From GNC index card files; not synopsized]. Named Plymouth marble (Keith, 1932). Revised to member of Hoosac formation (Thompson, 1952) [From GNC index card files; not synopsized]. Revised to member of Grahamville formation (Brace, 1953). Overview (Doll and others, 1961).
