[GNU records (USGS DDS-6; Reston GNULEX) state type is "1-/4" mi south of Highgate. Not sure what this notation (or typographical error) means. --unresolved.]

Unit Name History:
Named Hungerford formation (Schuchert, 1937).
Revised to Hungerford slate of Woods Corner group; Redescribed (Shaw, 1958).
Revised to Hungerford slate member of Sweetsburg formation; Age modified (Doll and others, 1961).
Abandoned (Mehrtens and Dorsey, 1987).
