Type Locality:
Vicinity of large railroad bridge (Harlow Bridge) 2.4 miles south-southwest of Northfield, Barre quadrangle, Washington Co., VT (Currier and Jahns, 1941).

Unit Name History:
Named in Cram Hill Formation (Currier and Jahns, 1941). Assigned to Missisquoi Formation (Doll and others, 1961). Raised to formation rank (Westerman, 1987).
