Type Locality:
Along State Highway 8, 1 mi north of Narrows, Giles Co., VA. Also well exposed 1.1 mi south of Eggleston (Mathews, 1934).

Deicke and Millbrig Bentonite Beds (VA), Walker Mountain Sandstone Member (VA)

Unit Name History:
Named Eggleston limestone (Mathews, 1934).
Suggested abandonment (Rosenkrans, 1936).
Overview (Miller and Fuller, 1947).
Extended into TN (Cooper, 1956).
Revised to part of Chickamauga Group (Harris, 1965).
Extended into WV; Revised to part of Trenton Group (Cardwell and others, 1968).
Overview (Haynes, 1992).
Walker Mountain Sandstone Member assigned (Haynes and Goggin, 1993).
