Type section, locality, area and/or origin of name:

Type section: exposures along Dawes Quarry Creek, which flows west into Oriskany Valley; section is east of main part of Clinton in town of Kirkland, Oneida Co., NY. Outcrop area is bounded on west by College Hill Creek, and on east by Dawes Quarry Creek (Gillette, 1947).
