Type Locality: Exposures in hills 0.8 to 3.2 km to the northeast, east, and southeast of village of Cooleyville, western edge of town of New Salem, Franklin Co., western-central MA (Robinson and Luttrell, 1985). Unit Name History: Named, credited to Mackower (1964, unpub. PhD dissert.) (Robinson, 1967). MA State Geol. Map usage (Zen and others 1983).
