Type section, locality, area and/or origin of name:

Type locality: Cochran Creek, on south side of Chilhowee Mountain, [Tallassee 7.5-min quadrangle], Blount Co., eastern TN; makes crest of mountain northwest of lower course of creek (Keith, 1895; Rodgers, 1953).
