Summary:

Name "proposed" for rocks on the Qu'appelle River, SA, CN in the Williston basin. Overlies Nisku formation (formerly a member of Winterburn formation) of Saskatchewan group (new). Underlies Exshaw formation (Mississippian). Extends eastward into southwest MB and southward into northern MT, western ND, and northwest SD, all in Williston basin. Divided into Lyleton formation at base and an upper unnamed part. Consists of red dolomitic shale, brown-red dolomitic siltstone, and red anhydritic argillaceous dolomite (Lyleton) 50 to 150 ft thick, and finely crystalline limestone interbedded with thin argillaceous limestone that commonly has scattered quartz grains, and some red dolomitic shale (upper part).
