Summary:

Name Spruce Pine alaskite introduced in this report for extremely coarse-textured granite that outcrops around the town of Spruce Pine in Mitchell Co. and in smaller areas in Brushy Creek and Ingalls sections of Avery Co., NC. Contains a small amount of biotite locally. Feldspar crystals as much as 2 ft across are quite common. No age stated.
