Summary:

Used as Moody Ledge Granite and reassigned to Oliverian Plutonic Suite. On 1:250,000-scale geologic map, included in Early Silurian unit of medium-grained, weakly foliated granite within Oliverian Plutonic Suite. Separately mapped on 1:500,000-scale derivative map showing plutons and sample localities for isotopic dating. Isotopic ages of Moody Ledge Granite displaced by Mount Clough pluton are 1) 435 +/-3 Ma [Early Silurian per time scale of Palmer, 1983] by U/Pb methods as reported by Aleinikoff and Moench (1987, Geological Society of America, Abstracts with Programs, v. 19, p. 1); and 2) 455 +/-? by U/Pb methods (J.N. Aleinikoff, oral commun. 1994). Report includes geologic map and cross sections, correlation chart, and four 1:500,000-scale derivative maps.
